Vintage Notes:
Phillip’s 2010 Shiraz Cabernet blend is crafted with tradition in mind. This basket pressed blend, is fermented in open vats and matured in 2-4 year old French barriques. Using traditional techniques plus maturation in older oak, allows the vineyards qualities to show through.
The Shiraz and Cabernet are sourced from the Sweetwater vineyard in the Pokolbin district. The vines are clonally proud and entrenched; they are planted over deep deposits of limestone and well-drained red sedimentary soil. After 13 years the vine’s roots are starting to explore its deeper soils and as a result are rewarding us with more complex fruit.
This 50/50 Shiraz Cabernet blend creates the perfect balance of opulent fruit from the Shiraz and structural integrity from the Cabernet.
