Te Whare Ra Wines marlborough
TWR (Te Whare Ra) is a small vineyard and winery located in the sub-region of Renwick, owned by winemakers – Anna & Jason Flowerday. Yields are kept low, the vineyard is managed with a combination of organic and biodynamic practices and all the fruit is hand picked and hand-sorted.
Between Jason and Anna they’ve worked 33 vintages. Anna was a national finalist in the Young Australian Winemaker of the Year in 2002 and is now a Senior Judge at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards, Royal Easter Wine Show, Liquorland Top 100, International Aromatic Competition and has also judged on the Cuisine tasting panel.
Jason’s family have been involved in the industry in Marlborough from the early 80s. His father developed and ran many vineyards in the area. It was during vintage 1999 at Hardy’s in McLaren Vale that Jason met Anna.
The couple moved on to Clare Valley in 2000 where Jason worked vintages at Crabtree Wines, Kirribilly Wines & Leasingham and managed their own 20 acre vineyard in Watervale.
Jason and Anna bought Te Whare Ra in mid 2003 and with all that experience under their belts are now producing many exceptional wines. Even with 2 sets of gorgeous twins girls to manage!
